Anatomical assessment in filler treatments, how volume needs are determined, preserving facial proportions and planning for a natural-looking result.

Collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, which occur naturally in the skin, decrease over time. This leads to wrinkles, hollowing, sagging and deep lines.

How Do Hyaluronic Acid Fillers Work?

Fillers containing hyaluronic acid bind with the water in the body to restore lost volume in the skin, quickly addressing deformity, hollowing and deep lines. After a certain period, hyaluronic acid fillers are eliminated naturally by the body.

Where Are Fillers Used?

  • Lines running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds)
  • Lip augmentation and shaping
  • Filling under-eye shadows and hollows and brightening the area
  • Correcting the shape of the nose
  • Cheekbone and chin contouring
  • Revitalising areas that have lost moisture and vitality

When combined with botox, fillers also give very good results in deep crow's feet that become more pronounced with age, squinting and frequent laughter. Volume loss in the mid-face, common in people who lose and gain weight rapidly or follow intensive exercise programmes, can also be corrected with fillers.

Who Can and Cannot Have Fillers?

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be applied comfortably except in certain situations such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, bleeding disorders and active infection at the treatment site.

How Does the Procedure Work?

The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes. A topical anaesthetic cream may be used beforehand. The results last between 8 and 14 months. Patients can return to daily life immediately after treatment.

Anatomical Assessment

The first step in filler treatment is an anatomical assessment of the area. No treatment plan is made before determining where and to what extent volume has been lost.

How Is the Required Volume Determined?

Volume needs differ from person to person. Age, skin structure, bone support and existing facial proportions are assessed together to determine the appropriate amount.

Preserving Facial Proportions and a Natural Result

The aim is not to change one area in isolation but to plan within a whole that preserves facial proportions. Gradual planning keeps the result controllable and natural-looking. The assessment is repeated at the follow-up appointment.
