Cupping therapy, popularly known as hijama, is one of the widely used detox methods. It is a traditional treatment method that creates local suction with the aim of supporting the person's blood circulation.
The method is listed by the Turkish Ministry of Health among traditional and complementary medicine practices. It is performed by a trained physician under clinical conditions.
With a history spanning thousands of years, cupping appears in Egyptian, Ancient Roman, Chinese, Arab (al-hijama) and Greek medicine. Galen and Hippocrates, regarded among the founders of Western medicine, also made use of cupping and shared their observations in their written works.
Cupping is listed by the Ministry of Health among traditional and complementary medicine practices.
