Leech Therapy (Hirudotherapy)

SERVICE DETAIL

What Is Hirudotherapy?

Hirudotherapy is a traditional treatment method based on bringing the leech — which carries many therapeutic active substances — into contact with points on the skin determined by the physician, so that these substances act both locally and through the bloodstream.

Where Do the Leeches Come From?

The leeches used must be obtained from production facilities approved by the Ministry of Agriculture. This is a basic condition for the safety of the procedure.

Procedure After Treatment

At the end of the procedure, the leeches are disposed of in accordance with medical waste regulations. Each leech must be used only once, for a single patient.

Approved facility source

Leeches must be sourced from production facilities approved by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Single use only

Each leech is used once, for a single patient only.
